The primary focus of the hospice team is to help each day to be the best it can be for individuals and their families. Our team provides an individual plan of care to address the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of the individual and family. Assessment and management of pain and symptoms as well as personal care. Our nurses and caregivers are trained to evaluate pain and symptoms and to provide services that alleviate the suffering associated with terminal illness. Continuous around-the-clock care will be provided.
Gate Control Theory of Pain (Melzac, 1968) states, “Pain can be treated not only by trying to cut down the sensory input by anesthetic block, surgical intervention and the like, but also by influencing the motivational-affective and cognitive factors as well.” The interface between patients and their environment is both sensory and cognitive. A patient environment that is comforting, minimizes distractions, and provides positive distractions is a proactive component in managing pain.
We will do whatever necessary to maintain dignity and provide quality of life for patient and family doing it your way, because you matter!
